Serbia is a country in Southeast Europe with a population of about seven million , which was previously a part of the Socialistic Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The quantitative research Measuring Cultural Intelligence in Serbia began in 2016. An international team partnered with the University of Belgrade (the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Philology), and the market research agency IPSOS, which provided support in translating and adapting the instrument.
The goal of the research was to translate the cultural intelligence scale (CQS) into Serbian, and adapt it to the local context. The pilot testing was completed in July 2017 in Belgrade.
Cultural Intelligence will be measured at the national level in Serbia for the first time by this current project.
The CQS was translated into Serbian with the support of the interdisciplinary partner team: local linguists, a psychologist and sociologists.
The adaptation of the instrument included the organization of two focus groups: one in Belgrade (the capital city) and the second one in Nis (southern Serbia). The participants of the focus groups were representative of the general population.
The pilot testing in Serbia was launched in March 2017. The sampling was conducted together with the local partners and the CQS was administered online at the University of Belgrade in Summer 2017. Currently the research team is analyzing the data.
The national study is planned for Summer 2018.
